Vol.2 "Meeting the picture again 13 years later. Visitors from South Africa"
On July 25th, I received a phone call from a man who asked if he could see the pictures from the Biennial Exhibition at Earth Plaza.
His name was Mr. Christian Mccallum from Cape Town in South Africa. At the age of 9, he exhibited a picture for the 8th Kanagawa Biennial Art Exhibition in 1995 and won the Gold prize.
He had been traveling around Tokyo and Kanagawa for a week and remembered that he entered "Kanagawa Biennial" before, when he saw the name of "Kanagawa". He searched it on the internet and found our phone number and finally came to see his picture after 13 years.
His exhibition, "Peacock", is colorfully painted. He took a photo to show to his family and said, " My family has never seen the picture because my teacher sent it directly from school."
Now he lives in Berlin, Germany, and is studying film. He would like to go back Cape Town to work as a film compositor in the future.
Recently, we haven't had any pictures for this exhibition from South Africa. We hope this experience will give us a chance to have South African participants for the 15th exhibition.
